keeping wellness diaries as disabled creative beings
keeping wellness diaries as disabled creative beings is written and designed for fellow disabled and chronically ill bodyminds with a creative practice. Each entry offers an intimate, honest glimpse into Denise Shanté’s everyday life while managing a constellation of chronic conditions.
Illuminating what's fully alive in the mundane moments of survival, you’re invited to reflect on, write, and document what it looks like—and feels like—to take care and be (un)well at the intersections of disability, creativity, and kinship. After journeying through three days of Denise Shanté recording her crip aliveness—with interruptions and details written down as remembered—prompts and empty diary pages are waiting for you to do the same.
These pages reclaim and liberate our narratives, offering literary space to shape how we collectively remember and keep a record of our day-to-day existences, our care practices, the worlds we're creating from beds, and all of the things our brilliant, sick bodies both endure and make possible.
Read the full summary, see the process, and preview a few entries from Day 01 on substack.
