poem credits and acknowledgements: The line "ebbs and flows that allow my life to be tidal" comes from an affirmation in Julia Cameron's Blessings deck that says, "I allow my life to be tidal." Part of this poem title and mention of unavoidable endings is connected to a tarot reading I listened to on Youtube by Swimming Through The Void with a card that shares, "certain endings are unavoidable. they are necessary precursors to radical reinvention." The structure of this poem also holds inspiration from my time in Ariana Brown's poetry classes from 2021 about list poems and studies of poets, like KB Brookins.

DEVOTIONS TO RADICAL REINVENTION

A LIST POEM PRINT AND POETRY WRITING WORKSHEET

Throughout the weeks in April, I was reflecting on the question - What are you devoted to as you reinvent who you are and what you practice?

Then, I wrote a list poem, "devotions to radical reinvention" because sometimes the only answer to any question is poetry.

This offering includes:

  • An 8.5 x 11 high quality pdf of my poem to print and/or frame, if desired.

  • Second page that invites you into reflection on the shared question above, leaving space for your dreams, memories, declarations, repetitions, and sensations.

  • Guidance on how to transform these elements into a list poem.

  • A third page with space for you to write your own version of “devotions to radical reinvention (after denise shanté)”.

MOURNING & CELEBRATING WHAT WAS

A RITUAL DESIGN WORKSHEET FOR HONORING EXPERIENCE

We often enter new days, years, and major life transitions without pausing to honor our experience. This ritual design worksheet is a three-step meditative process you can use to create a personalized ceremony by mourning and celebrating all that you’ve lived—the joys, the sorrows—before moving forward.

A highlight is that it can be used to bring higher meaning and awareness to every transition you're facing in your life. So you can do this now, and you can do it days, months, years from now. When you've lost a relationship. Started a new job. Decided to let go of old patterns.

Whatever's unfolding, it's a personalized ceremony designed to hold space for you whenever you need it, as many times as you need it. One of the reasons I designed it is because I know that I'll be needing it, too.

approaching your collaboration with care

A REFLECTIVE FRAMEWORK FOR COMMUNITY COLLABORATIONS

“Caring about our design practice means not only caring about what we design, but how we design…Those who are working toward transition have a responsibility to be reflective, critical, and explicit about the futures they are working to create.” — Designing Futures with Care

Continuous learning over the years about what heals and harms when we collectively imagine possible futures, I designed a framework to reflect on intersecting components that can help shape plans for collaborative ideation.

This diagram offers questions that center attentiveness, spaciousness, self-care and accountability — all beginning seeds for cultivating holistic, healing-centric collaborations.
