My essay in Loam’s Issue: Beauty & Beauty published in 2019.

I remember writing my first poem in elementary school and I still have notes and journals from my teenage days. Writing as a form of contextualizing and making meaning of life’s beautiful, surprising and sometimes difficult experiences shares a relationship with all that I create. For me, it’s both heart-expansive and intuitive, giving me the opportunity to put possibilities to paper and open portals in the hearts and minds of others.

AFFIRMATIONS

The phrase that comes to mind when I read Denise’s writing is calming wisdom. The focus on wellbeing, intentional self care and how to best use our creative energies in Denise’s writing is so clear, descriptive and helpful as a guide of how to think about your current moment and think about how to better take care of yourself. Reading the practices and tools she shared with the readers just made me so happy to know this caring, compassionate person and I think everyone should be exposed to her writing to get the chance to reflect and think deeply as well.
