COMMUNITY SESSIONS

healing-centric offerings for groups AND MOVEMENTS

MAPPING YOUR CREATIVE LIFEWORK ECOSYSTEM

Lifework Ecosystem Mapping is my creative, spirit-driven framework for maintaining a connection with your essence, your purpose and your dreams.

Engaging in an emergent process, I offer a series of prompts and questions to guide one’s map creation grounded in the work and values that matter to them the most. As we listen to what wants to be revealed about what we long to create, I weave in tarot, oracles, writing, and visual expressions.

Whether focusing on one core project/practice or exploring multiple interconnected passions, this growing ecosystem offers articulated insights into the areas of your life and work where you can stretch, rest, release and transform.

What to expect during the course experience:

  • One 3hr LIVE group session.

  • The activation of materials, elements, and intuition.

  • A rising of all things true and abundant.

This experience is for those who already have clarity on their area(s) of practice and their creative gifts. If you are in the beginning phases of this process, I encourage you to request a one on one “Creative Mashup and Lifework Discovery” session.

EMBODYING DESIGN AS A PATHWAY TO JUSTICE

In this two-part guided immersion, I offer an introduction to design justice exploring the questions: How can design be a tool for dreaming and building more just, liberating futures? How can we both practice and embody the justice we want to see?

Lifting up dialogue, embodied practices, and imagination, these sessions are created to facilitate integration between design and community building and to nurture new connections among people committed to design supporting communities facing injustice.

THROUGH OUR EXPERIENCE, WE WILL…

  • Critically meditate on the existing movements practicing design as a pathway to create the worlds we need.

  • Collaboratively define what design justice could look like during the ongoing pandemonium.

  • Identify ways we can integrate the values reflected in design justice into our lives, work, and presence.

What to expect during the course experience:

  • Two 2hr LIVE group sessions.

  • Possible guest visits from Design Justice Network members.

  • Living Jam Board to capture and continue ideation.

This experience originally launched November 2020 as a module for graduate students within the MA Social Design program at MICA’s Center for Social Design. It was the first module at the institution to be opened to the public, for free, with space prioritized for Black, Indigenous and People and Color.

CULTIVATING RADICAL CREATIVE CARE

As designers, what will we collectively choose to do differently to focus on healing our creative energies and labor?

Designing new futures calls for a radical tending to our imagination and creative power. Grounded in my living definition of Radical Creative Care, we’ll engage in authentic dialogue about the state of our wellbeing, activate healing practices, and explore frameworks to uncover what it means to nourish our sacred creativity so that we can design new possibilities, with care.

Participants will move out of the experience with a personal and collective understanding of ways to pleasurably refuse creative burnout and their own life-giving care practices that honor their labor and brilliance.

What to expect during the course experience:

  • One 2hr LIVE group session.

  • Living Jam Board to capture and continue ideation.

  • Spaciousness for open dialogue, collaborative dreaming, and prototyping.

The manifestation of this community session is seeded from my writings on the topic of “Radical Creative Care.” Radical Creative Care is a term and practice I dreamed up when reflecting on the ways I want to deepen a more nourishing, loving extension of care toward my creativity. Further articulation birthed itself after being a guest speaker on this topic with Design Activism students and instructors at Virginia Commonwealth University.

Cultivating Radical Creative Care launched during the two-day Fifth Annual Hue Design Summit, an immersive un-conference for Black developers & designers to foster relationships & build community.

DESIGNING THE RITUALS WE NEED & DESIRE

Within this three-session ritual design course, I offer space for us to deepen our understanding of ritual with the tools to design the intentional practices we need and desire. Participants will be guided through critical meditations on who we are and who we are becoming with bodywork exercises to attune to the areas of our lives longing for ritual. This space uplifts the power of collaborative ideation to dream and design liberating, meaningful moments so that we can build sacred intention into our lives.

THROUGH OUR EXPERIENCE, WE WILL…

  • Learn to notice and respond to our body knowledge and embodied wisdom in connection to what we need and desire.

  • Become better acquainted with the concept of ritual design as a practice for creating moments of meaning that go deeper than habits and routines.

  • Get inspired by people who've designed rituals to nourish themselves and their practice in the world.

  • Collaboratively dream through group work and design rituals with each other for loving, mutual support to help bring them into existence.

  • Put our ritual design prototypes into practice and strategize ways we can integrate these rituals into our everyday lives beyond our time together.

What to expect during the course experience:

  • Three 2hr LIVE group sessions.

  • Maximum of 14 people for intimacy and community building.

  • Ritual Design frameworks, inspirational resources, and materials.

  • Creative guidance and insight from me in between sessions.

  • Access to my new private online community space on Mighty Networks for deeper learning, mutual care and connection.
